Unlike my other books, this was my first non-fiction book that wasn’t focused on my own experiences or points of view. Instead, everything within these pages is all about a specific product: 3E Templates.
3E Templates, formerly known as Design Gallery, is a workflow and data transformation product from Elite Technologies. Since 2011, in one form or another, I have been working with this product. Whether it’s building solutions, or teaching people how to use it. Over the course of time, I’ve become intimately familiar with virtually every aspect of this piece of software.
I had considered writing a reference manual and publishing it as a book when I worked for Elite (formerly owned by Thomson Reuters). But for a myriad of reasons, that wasn’t possible. When I joined Datolite in 2021, the idea resurfaced, and so a little pet-project began.
Over the course of three years, I wrote all new material to cover virtually everything you would ever need to know about 3E Templates. Throw in some additions from a few colleagues, and this book was born.
For me, I consider this to be my ultimate resume of my technical writing skills. Given how insanely complex 3E Templates can be, I’m very proud of how it all turned out.
